If there is one thing we can all agree on in 2015, and will probably talk about in the next couple of years or so when we talk about 2015, is that a huge number of folks either got real sensitive about stuff, or the world of controversial art has seriously changed. Hurting someone’s feelings is a major faux-pas right now and, depending on who you talk to, changes to how folks relate with each other is either the last nail in the coffin of controversial art or it’s what has needed to happen for a long time,. and 2015 is the year folks put their feet down and make it happen. I will admit that I flew off the handle at first, fighting viciously on the side of freedom of expression, but the more I talk to folks, it’s being looked at by some as if we need to stop the assholes of the world from being bullies. I have always hated bullies, and have got my head kicked in by bullies on more than one occasion, and really do fucking hate them. So, it’s a complicated narrative going on right now.
Well, we’ve gone out and got us an interview with a dude that, on the outside looking in, seems like one of the most controversial artists out there. Blaine Cartwright from Nashville Pussy is our guest this week. From past use of the Confederate flag to having that uber-controversial Pussy in their band name, Blaine and company have taken some flack over the years. But, from what he tells us, it’s nothing like the shit going on right now. Although Blaine seems kind of rough and sleazy from his look and demeanor, never judge a book by its cover. This dude is a bright, well-spoken professional with some great bits to offer the discussion of censorship in 2015. Oh yeah, and he and Dan talk a bunch about his old band Nine Pound Hammer as well. Great talk – enjoy.
